The direct approach, at least for you, is the best approach. So when it comes to expressing your concern about an issue, go straight to the source. Visit your congress person or state representative (if you're part of a group, that's even better). Always make an appointment. And go early: be prepared to wait. When you get in, don't take an adversarial stance: whining, threatening and yelling will only minimize your credibility. Instead, present your concerns clearly and concisely, and follow up your visit with a thank-you note.
