Developing good eco-habits is a lot like developing kindness: once you start, it becomes easier to find more and more ways to conserve and reuse. So pick one thing to focus on saving or cleaning up, whether it's carbon emissions, water use or trees and go from there. Maybe you can't save the whole earth right away, but starting with what you have is a good place to begin.
