The produce you buy in the grocery store sometimes travels for thousands of miles to get there. You can help reduce the carbon impact associated with the growth and transportation of food by always buying local. Farmer's markets are springing up all over the place, but if you don't have one nearby, consolidate trips to the closest producer. Then buy in bulk, and freeze or can what you can't use right away.
