Friction with authority figures is never fun, but today you shouldn't compromise what you believe just for the sake of not making someone else uncomfortable. It's time to stick to your guns. Don't back down, no matter how intense the peer pressure may be. As long as you don't force anyone to agree with you, they will respect you for having conviction: and they could reward you for it some day. You respect the views that other people hold, and they need to respect yours.
